Cover Letter For Apparel Design Major

RE: Fashion Designer, August 18, 2014

Dear Ms. VladimÌ_ra,

As a highly skilled Fashion Designer, I read your posting for a new Fashion Designer with interest. My experience aligns well with the qualifications you are seeking at VladimÌ_ra Boutique, in particular my role as a Fashion Designer at The Jessie McGuire Group, and I am certain I would make a valuable addition to your organization.

With more than 9 years’ experience as a Fashion Designer, I am adept in CAD softwares, project budgeting, and time management. Moreover, while my on-the-job experience has afforded me a well-rounded skill set, including first-rate attention to detail and creativity, I excel at:

  • Client relations
  • Contract negotiations
  • Scheduling
  • Researching and analyzing market trends

In addition to my experience and personal qualities, I have a solid educational foundation and a passion for fashion design. I am extremely enthusiastic about

VladimÌ_ra Boutiques’ focus on French apparel and would welcome the opportunity to contribute to your in-house design initiatives.

Please review my attached resume for additional details regarding my expertise and abilities. I will follow up to request an appointment to discuss how my experience and background meets your needs.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Dear Ms Smith

Re: Assistant fashion designer position

I’m writing to apply for the position of assistant fashion designer, advertised on on 2 October 2009.

Throughout my university course, I undertook a wide variety of work experience, including positions at Rosemount Fashion Week and in Pose magazine’s style department. It can be seen from the designs that I’ve included in my portfolio (see attached) that I have a flair for colour and textures, an innate understanding of trends and am competent working with most fabrics. I have exceptional illustration and artwork skills and was awarded the Student Designer of the Year award in my final year of college. I particularly enjoy working with silk and lace to design feminine pieces and I can always be found experimenting with my own creations at home.

My current job at KitKit Fashion, where I have been employed for two years, has allowed me to be involved with all areas of production – from deciding on designs and fabric, to assisting with cutting and distribution. It is a small company and I have been very grateful for the opportunity to be involved with every aspect of the business; however, I feel I am now ready to move on to bigger and better things in the fashion world.

For as long as I can remember, fashion has always been a major part of my life. For many years I have immersed myself in all the latest Australian and international fashion news, allowing me to stay one step ahead of trends and keep my eye out for new, up-and-coming designers. My favourite labels include Marc Jacobs, Stella McCartney, Sass & Bide, and of course, Poppy & Rose.

I have been a long-standing and loyal customer of the Poppy & Rose brand for many years and it would be an absolute honour to work for your company. I am passionate about fashion, clothes and fabrics and I believe that my combination of unpaid work experience and employment has provided me with the necessary skills to be an excellent assistant designer for Poppy & Rose.

I look forward to meeting you and discussing the position with you further.

Kind regards
